Week 1 Winners: Ellen Pringle & Charmaine Bashe
Ellen is my Grandmother. I was presented to her when she was 54 years old and at her weakest with all sorts of ailments, gall stones, a nervous breakdown and a bad broken heart from being widowed at 34 when her husband was hit by a speeding car. My mother left me with her when she decided to heed the call of youthfulness and trot the world. I was 4mths old, and a wailing infant.
No clothes, no formula and it being so long since she mothered a child, it was a great challenge; the sleepless nights, the clinic visits, the simple task of putting a diaper was futile for her, but she did it ever so lovingly and so gently.
She educated me academically, socially and emotionally. She instilled resilience in me and even when my marriage failed she told me to cry about it but also to smile about the journey of healing that awaited me.
I am now the 34 year old mother of a gorgeous 4 year old boy. I have a good job, a car and a home. I have principles and values that only a black old woman can teach a girl, and every single time I go to Soweto for a visit I make sure I kiss the now wrinkled old hands of a now 86 year old Phenomenal Woman that moulded me.

Week 2 Winners: Bettie Swanepoel & Elana Fourie
My mother was diagnosed at the end of 2007 with breast cancer. During all her chemo and treatment I didn't hear her complain about anything.
Everytime we asked how she was and how she was feeling, she just smiled and said she was ok and didn't have any complaints. In the morning she would just stand up and go on again. I didn't see her during the time that she was in bed and didn't feel well.
She drove all the way to Bloemfontein to visit me. She is just a PHENOMENAL woman and an example to everybody who has CANCER - always look forward, believe in God and pray!

Week 3 Winners: Jennette Chauke & Sharon Chauke
She is an unemployed single mother of five children with no husband. She has raised her children selling second hand shoes, tomatoes and mopane worms on the street of Alexandra.
She lives in a single room with all her children, sharing the same bed. She is a hardworker, a women who loves her children and took them to school without nothing.
She is a hero, because she did not abort or kill any of her children, she is a living example to all the mothers out there, who thought they can not do it on their own and end up giving their children away or throwing them in the toilet or bins.
She inspires me alot and deserves to be told how special she is to me, to the people that look up to her and the world. She is not only a mother, but a mother with diginity and respect. Please give her love!

Week 4 Winners: Vanessa Cousins & Brenda-Lynn McCann
I really feel she is worthy of being made Tastic's Phenomenal Woman's award as she is a woman in a million.
Vanessa helps everyone that crosses her path and goes out of her way in every aspect at whatever cost. She is an example to all woman out there that anything is possible and has such a balance in life.
She is a wonderful wife, mother and care-giver and will go to lengths to aid and assist anyone that meets her. I have never in my life met someone as strong as she is and she truly sets an example that any woman can pull through anything.
She gives off such an aura of warmth and makes you feel like the most important person in the world. She is a highly successful stockmarket business-woman well respected in a man's world and has earned herself the utmost respect from many successful people. She makes time for everyone no matter what situation you are in and will not rest until you are on your feet.
This woman is an example and honestly should be awarded Woman of the Year award. She has all the criteria to match this award.

Having a daughter Kerry (13) who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and is wheelchair bound and needs 24 hour assistance makes life challenging.
My wife Lindsay never complains about the situation, from getting Kerry dressed daily, doing hair, bathing, assisting with the homework, projects and transport to school and all events, she continually strives to give Kerry as normal a life as possible. All I can say is that Lindsay is truely a fanTASTIC woman !
